“From Creation to Redemption — The Promise of Jesus in Genesis”

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1)

In the opening words of Genesis, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1), we see the power and order of the Creator. Yet hidden within the beauty of creation lies a deeper story — one that points to the Redeemer who would come to restore what sin had broken.

When Adam and Eve sinned, humanity’s perfect fellowship with God was lost. But even then, God revealed a shadow of hope — “He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel” (Genesis 3:15). This verse, known as the Protoevangelium (the first gospel), foreshadows Jesus’ victory over Satan on the cross. The serpent would strike His heel through the crucifixion, but Christ would crush the serpent’s head through His resurrection.

Just as God clothed Adam and Eve with garments of skin (Genesis 3:21), covering their shame with sacrifice, so Jesus became the covering for our sin through His shed blood. The beginning of Genesis shows that salvation has always been God’s plan — creation started with light, and redemption ends with the Light of the World (John 8:12).
